On our second-to-last day, we went up to Bukit Malawati and Kuala Selangor to see the world’s largest firefly colony and the effervescent Blue Tears boat ride.
The town of Bukit Malawati was small and nondescript
It was an old fort that sat on the Selangor River and overlooked the Straight of Malacca

As it got dark, we went to the jetty to board our boat to see the fireflies and “Blue Tears.” - "Blue Tears" water is a natural glowing phenomenon in the ocean caused by microscopic, light-producing organisms called bioluminescent plankton or dinoflagellates
The next morning, we had breakfast and flew home.

Our boat trip was disappointing. We watched the fireflies from our boat for about 15 minutes, and the driver couldn’t find the “Blue Tears” that evening.
