In the late 1990’s and early 2000’s, Dan Anklam (teacher, coach, and principal at Cordova High School and Mitchell Middle School) and I created The Burger Guy website. This was the time of 14.4 and 28.8 dial-up internet access. There was no Facebook, Twitter, or YouTube. There was no streaming video, and pictures loaded painfully slow. Neither of us knew anything about the internet or about how to make and maintain a website. There were no other online burger reviews, and we had no models to learn from. We were pioneers in the online food review industry.  Our reviews were all local to the Sacramento area, and we had dreams of expanding nationally, but I abandoned the project and left California, giving Dan little warning. He hasn’t talked to me since. I sometimes wonder if we could have taken this to the next level and gained international recognition before the internet exploded into the force it is today. Sorry Dan, but I had to get out of town fast. I haven’t been back to Sacramento since the moving van loaded my furniture that dark night twenty-six years ago.

I am republishing the old Burger Guys website without many changes. However, I am trying to learn how to build a website using the new tools of 2026, a big learning curve for an old man. You might find this site interesting, but my guess is that the only people who will read these old reviews will be Dan and me. Enjoy
