It’s our third day in our Retirement 2.0 adventure. We got a bit more sleep but were still up at 3 am. As soon as the sun was up at 5:40, we took off to walk in the nearby Benjakitti Park. It is the Central Park of Bangkok and was surprisingly busy when we went there.

At the entrance of our gate was a dog park

But, you still knew that you were in the middle of a city of 16 million.

An Asian Openbill perches on a tree waiting for breakfast.

A pink duck begging for food

We could see our new apartment from here.

The park was once a tobacco plantation, and the old drying buildings have been converted to covered sports facilities

The badminton courts

After our morning walk, we had breakfast.

For dinner, we took a break from Thai food and went to Bartels for sandwiches.

SW 1 street market. Great food and shopping

The gate at the end of Soi 10 opens every morning at 4:30. It was a relatively cool, humid morning, with temperatures in the 80s.

The park was beautiful and extremely clean

And, several sidewalks that lead out into the jungle.

A White-breasted Waterhen

A walkway between some of the buildings

Along with the pickleball court here, there are basketball, soccer, skateboarding, volleyball, and more

During the day, we needed a break from the heat and pulled into an air-conditioned Starbucks

I have eaten a lot of sandwiches in the last 70 years, and this may be the best. The perfect grilled ham and cheese.
