We took this trip to Oman in April 2008.  It was a relaxing seven days as we splurged and stayed at a high-end beach hotel just outside the capital, Muscat.  We took day trips to the mountains, desert, old forts, small villages, markets, and the capital. However, we spent more time at the hotel than we normally do and regretfully did not take advantage of what this country has to offer. Oman is an extremely clean country with wide paved roads and highways.  I am sad that we only visited once.  If you are ever in the Middle East, Oman and Muscat must be at the top of your list.

The pictures were from our old website, so they are not the highest quality.

It was so nice to just sit under an umbrella, read, drink, eat and sleep.

So many choices as to where to nap

We were in a cove, protected from pirates

A grassy area for some lawn bowling

Not too sure where in Muscat we were

An old fort and a private villa on the bay

We stayed at a beautiful hotel just outside of Muscat. Our plan was to do nothing but sit by the pool and beach.

When we got tired of the pool, we went to the beach

But eventually, we did venture outside of our oasis

The beaches were almost empty, and the weather was perfect

A smaller mosque on the outer edge of the city

At one point, I fell asleep floating on the lazy river
