The country has tried to preserve the Arabic and cultural
architecture into its new buildings

Looking back at the city of Doha

Artwork and fountains are all around the city

The country is surrounded by sandy white beaches

A few fisherman on an early weekend morning

Admiring the morning’s catch

The Parliament Building

It is one of the fastest growing cities in the world

One of the many cafes on the water

The old part of the city

Carpet shops everywhere

Along the Persian Sea waterfront

My favorite are the spice, nuts and sweets shops

While we have been to Qatar several times, the pictures here were taken in November 2007. They are from our old Goliards website, and the picture quality is not very good.

Qatar was a great place for us to go to while living in Saudi Arabia. It had great malls with excellent shopping and a large selection of wonderful restaurants. It also had a mix of old culture and modern amenities.

During long weekends or short holidays, this was a perfect place to relax.

Doha, the capital, is a modern, progressive city.

We stayed at the Sheraton - a landmark in Doha

An old fishing boat still in use

Lots of little shops

She was faster than our taxi

And narrow alleys with excellent shops

Quadding is extremely popular in the desert
