It is in the middle of the city but feels miles away from the hustle of the busy streets.

One of several bridges that cross the long narrow lake

Early Tuesday morning, we got on the train at 0630 to go to Chatuchak and Queen Sirikit Parks. There are two stops to get there: Mo Chi Station on the Green BTS and Chatuchak Park Station on the Blue MRT. Both parks are right next to each other, so I am combining them, but they are separate parks.

Chatuchak Park was opened in 1980 and is 30 acres. It is great for walking, running, and picnics. It has a large, long lake with several small bridges and is next to the famous Chatuchak Weekend Market

Queen Sirikit Park was opened in 1992 to commemorate the late queen’s 60th birthday. It is 47 acres of formal gardens, ponds, and walking paths. It is noted for its botanical diversity.

It is beautiful and very well kept, with no litter or signs of homeless people living or staying in the park

Lots of birds and squirrels

So many different types of trees and plants

This solar-powered driverless boat picks up any trash that blows into the lake
