By bus, Koh Chang (Elephant Island) is about 5 hours south of Bangkok. The island combines beaches, dense rainforest, mountains, waterfalls, and small fishing communities rather than being exclusively a beach-resort destination.
It’s in an older section of the city.
At 8 AM, we were on our way.
A bit rustic, but there was a bathroom
Almost there
Before checking into our room, we had lunch at the formal restaurant.
Glenna had salmon, black rice, and steamed vegetables
We were at our bus pickup point, Boonsiri Ferry, at 6:30 AM
We waited inside the Being Cafe until our bus arrived
After about 5 hours, we arrived at the port to get on the ferry to Koh Chang
It was a 20 minute ferry ride to the island
Our truck, full of young Euro travelers, pulled up to our hotel, and Glenna and I got off.
The open air lobby.
It felt like we were in a botanical garden
