We took this trip at the end of January 2014 and spent most of our time in Amritsar and Dharamshala and the surrounding areas
One of my favorite pictures. We are at Sri Harmandir Sahib, better known as the Golden Temple, in Amritsar, Punjab. It is the central pilgrimage shrine of Sikhism and one of India's most important religious sites.
Before entering the Golden Temple, I had to cover the top of my head. We also had to take off our shoes and socks and wash our feet before entering the complex
Sikhism is a monotheistic religion that originated in the Punjab region of South Asia in the late 15th century. It has about 25–30 million followers worldwide, making it one of the world's larger religions. Guru Nanak (1469–1539) founded Sikhism. He taught that there is one God, that all people are equal, and that people should live an honest, compassionate life while remembering God
The temple symbolizes humility, equality and openness to people of all backgrounds.

Between 100,000 and 125,000 people a day (30 t0 45 million a year) visit the temple. Here I am waiting in line
